Added Ram - Computer Crashes

Hi,

I'm hoping you experts can help me out here.

I've recently added 1064mb (2X512) of OCZ Premier series ram to my existing 512mb (2X256) OCZ Premier series ram.

When I first installed the new ram, my computer would start up then stop working at the Windows Welcome menu. After fiddling around with installing the ram pairs in different steps my computer finally made it past the welcome menu but would freeze up quite frequently when I opened a software program such as a browser.

I reinstalled the ram by installing the 2 X 512 sticks first then rebooted and added the 2 X 256 and now my computer doesn't freeze up as much but it still does once in a while and it bugs me.

Have you guys ever encountered this? Please help!

Thanks,

jay

By the way, I am using an ASUS P4P-800E Deluxe motherboard.

You need to check each of the new ram sticks by installing them one at a time (don't worry about the dual channel mode yet, the system will still work). If both check out OK, install both (without the old ram) and see if it will work. If it works then continue installing both of the old rams. Make sure the bios ram setting or timing is set to SPD when you have all of the rams installed.

I've tried using just the 2 512 sticks and my system works fine.

Sorry... how do I check my bios setting?
