I just installed a new Seagate Barracuda ATA ST340016A 40 GB hard disk with a clean install, after loading windows ME; I added my 2-year-old 13 GB Quantum as a slave drive. I set the new drive to have 4 about equal partitions. Sense I have a lot of space on the old drive taken up with games, and need to reinstall them to play, I want to remove them from the old HD, but my new Add/remove from control panel program doesn?t recognize them. And when I go into the files themself and use the uninstaller that was installed with it, it won?t work either.
Is there a way around this? Can I start it by itself (my old drive) then will the add remove work?
Thanks for any help. Don

Just install the programs you want to the old folders and it will overwrite the old files in those folders.

once you have reintalled win ME on the first drive you have effectively a new machine.... the add/remove software only applies to the new OS... so whats on the othe drive is now just unusable data... not installed software anymore.... to remove them just delete the folders(including the windows folder) on the old drive ...

You make that sound so easy. I want to get them off that drive and put them in a new (faster quieter partition) Guess I can install over them then remove them. That will work. Thanks djb

djb,
There is nothing in your registry relating to these.
You can just delete them.

I was thinking of keeping the drive functional in case a problem occurs with the new one. I thought because it was in it's own partition I could restart it from DOS or something. Probable too much trouble, if that happened I could just install Windows, then an Image of the HD. Thanks for the info. djb
