This isn't a hot deal. This card will barely play anything now a days. You _MIGHT_ get it to do Half Life or UT at 640, but I wouldn't risk it. You'd have better luck with a GF2MX PCI or a Radeon PCI, but definitely not this. I do have one, and I speak from experience. Back in the day they were good, just not anymore!

Definitely not a good deal. If you check the FS/FT forum, you'll see people selling full blown Nvidia TNT2 16MB video cards for around $30 shipped (just saw one that sold for $20 shipped). Sure, you've gotta send them the money rather than a website, but I bet you the person on this board will get it to you faster (via USPS takes like 2-3 days) and if you go with someone trustworthy, you'll be getting a much better card too.

Sidenote: Yeah, a voodoo2 would allow you to play UT decently since the engine is designed for glide (read 3dfx!), but now the D3D engine has pretty much caught up and is even, and if you try to play almost any other game (q3?) the TNT2 will destroy the voodoo2.

On a GW64000, one voodoo2 12mb gets around 50 fps average in UT at 800x600 with max settings (I think... might be medium.) Not bad... makes me wonder why I upgraded from 2 voodoo2s to a tnt to a tnt2 and then a geforce2 64mb.

Yeah Voodoo2 was badass back in the day, but it won't run any new games well.

Doesn't the Voodoo2 also require another card for regular 2D video?

So it takes up two slots.

It's too far past its prime.

I paid $399.00 to get my hands on a Pair of Diamond Monster 12MB Voodoo2's. I had to have SLI !!!!! SLI Kicked @$$, 1024 x 768 !!! They rocked back in the (Pre-Voodoo3)day thought.... they could compete with Voodoo3.... ooooooohhhh....

They only work in conjunction with a 2D card so That do take up two PCI slots, three if you want SLI. However if you are determined dig up an old Quantum Obsidian X-24. It is two Voodoo2's piggybacked together on one card, only takes up one PCI Slot. I had that too, only cost $599.00.

It is past it's Prime... they can't compete with even a GForce1 Nowadays and since 3Dfx is Toast you are limited in drivers.

Besides Glide is Dead!!

Not a Hot deal... Sorry....

If you play Diablo 2, this card (and price) is a nice find, esp. having two in SLI mode.

For some obscure reason, Blizzard decided to code Diablo 2 (including the expansion pack just released) so that it runs best, by far, on a Voodoo and using glide. I keep my old cards in my system specifically for that purpose.

You have to remember that back when Diablo2 was in development, 3dfx was the king of graphics cards. IIRC, they originally were only going to add Glide support for the extra visual effects as a bonus to 3dfx users, but I guess enough non-3dfx users complained (and rightly so) so Blizzard added Direct3D support later down the development cycle. At least that's my take on it...
