Add AVitar upload?

I don't suppose the Anandtech forums will add the ability to download an avitar. Many forums for other things I have seen have the ability to load say a 80 by 80 pixel jpeg with a size limit. 😀
I just think they are really cool, and give the posters to really give way to distinguish themself's

This has been discussed before. The potential for abuse is too high. The moderators would have to moderate tens of thousands of avatars, in addition to their other duties.

Exactly. Besides, posters distinguish themselves by having different usernames. 😛

And it's not necessarily a bad thought... if there were the extra servers to handle it, and if there were the extra moderators to keep it under control, and if there weren't a lot of people like me who would get absolutely pissed off and leave if the administrators let people upload high-contrast, obnoxious, flashing, seizure-inducing avatars such as I frequently see on sites that do allow user-contributed avatars.

LotharJade, nothing wrong with a thought. 🙂

It's just that it'd be abused is all. Plus I think the forum admins lhave also said they like the uniform appearance of the avatars they have. They all match. Some boards that have user uploaded avatars have a sort of chaotic appearance due to the different sizes, shapes, and styles of avatars.
