adaware causes BSOD!

I am getting some firefox popups and so I fire up adaware and it BSODs everytime I try to update. What do I do?????????

seems like your system has been compromised. have you tried booting in safe mode and running the scan.
also spybot.

You can try using msconfig to disable suspect startup items, but it may be compromised also. I found Startup Control Panel at http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml to be more effective if that's the case. Once you keep the malware that's crashing Adaware from starting, that gives you a starting point. Some other particular programs that may help you in this case are CWS shredder, BHO demon, and MS anti-spyware. Malware that can crash Adaware will often break your internet connection upon removal , so have the fix (Lspfix for win98 or winsockxpfix for xp) available.

Send me the minidumps found in c:\windows\minidump
Run MPS Reports and send me the resulting .cab file
Follow the info/directions in my .sig.

The dumps will tell us what went wrong.

CWShredder too. It removes CoolWebSearch, one of the most insidious forms of spyware out there.
