so i installed Adaware and Spybot finally. yay it found tons of stuff and removed it.

since i ran them though, Windows Media Player 9 encounters an internal system error and dies whenever i try to start it.

apparently Spybot and/or Adaware found something related to WM9 and deleted it, and now my WM9 doesnt work

and since Microsoft is such a terrific company, there doesnt seem to be any easy way to reinstall WM9

i tried restoring the registry settings that Spybot said had to do with WM9, but it still doesnt work

fantastic programs they are

i can understand that theyd drop the ball on something like that though, considering how few people must have Windows Media Player 9...

SpyBot finds Media Player's client ID in your registry.
I don't think allowing SpyBot to remove it should create any problems.

In the past, I've allowed SpyBot to remove everything it finds and never had a problem. More recently, I delete everything except the MP9 Client ID.

I have noticed odd things when memory is low. I sometimes get SpyBot messages in German when memory is low.

If you get the free M$ Security Updates CD, it has MP 7.1 and 9 on it. There is a link to it in a thread in the OS section here, just search on free in that section.
