Everyone I know (who runs Windwoes, of course) runs two or three adware/spyware checkers. I run Spybot, Adaware and the one that comes with SystemSuite 8. They hardly ever find anything except tracking cookies to clean, but one never knows. One can always run Linux for most of their Web activities and avoid most of the bother...

I run AdAware ... Spybot SD .... Spyware Blaster .... Windows Defender
in addition to antivirus. Every now and then I run CCleaner to see what
turns up. Spybot & Spyware Blaster are pretty good at immunizing things.

As I understand it, Spyware Blaster is like a vaccine - it will prevent known spyware from being installed in the first place. But it is not a cure for spyware as it doesn't scan and delete spyware that you have been infected with. Since Spyware Blaster supposedly uses no system resources, you should install it and also use other spyware software on top of that such as spybot, adaware, superantispyware, Windows Defender, etc
