Adaptec Easy CD Creator Question...

hey,

i currently use version 3.5a...i just got 4.01 so i can drag and drop mp3 files...to those who know their stuff about it, how good is the mp3 to wave decoder that's built into easy cd 4.01?

also should i uninstall 3.5a before installing 4.01 or just install it over?...TIA

Well the mp3>wav decoder does the trick, it works well with burning audio cds from mp3s though depending on the quality of the encode of the mp3 you may end up with static(though very little, mind you I burn mp3s that are distributed by bands so they are already low quality, I like having discs of new music of emerging bands), anyway I feel it does a decent job. As for installing, I would recommend that you first uninstall and install the new one (just to keep things clean and eliminate any possible conflicting files)

Suggest that you use the Adaptec upgrades from their website, although versions 4.02d and e are not currently available due to copyright issues.

Both support additional burners, and their stability, testing ability, and options are MUCH better than your older versions.

Definately upgrade from 4.01 to the latest from Adaptec's web site.

Secondly, do not try to upgrade from the 3 to the 4 series. The engine is a bit different and you will have some conflicts. Uninstal 3.5 first.

The mp3 to wave files conversion are usually quite good if the bitrate is 128 or higher.

I wouldnt suggest using the adaptec decoder. The sound quality really gets degraded lower then it already is.
