Adapt original Xbox dance pad for Xbox 360?

I have a couple of decent dance pads that I used with DDR on the original Xbox. Now that I have upgraded to a 360, is there any way to adapt these pads for use with the DDR Universe titles on the 360? Thanks!

Yes, you can. Buy an Xbox 360 pad, and crack open the control box portion of it. Take the board and replace your existing pad's board with it. I'm told it's not really that hard to do if you've _ever_ soldered before.

I have soldered before, but this wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was hoping for a cheap adapter cable or something - having to buy an Xbox 360 pad in the first place kind of defeats the purpose. :p

There aren't any cheap adapters out there, unfortunately. You should not have to spend all that much buying a used DDR-360 pad, though.

So I've found that there are some original Xbox to USB adapters (example) out there. In theory this should allow for the hardware connection to the 360. Is there something incompatible about the control signal that will make this not work?
