Hey everyone -
I'm trying to get linux installed onto a dell optiplex gx260. everything but the sound works.

The soundcard is manufactured by Analog Devices, and its the AD1982 chipset. The i810_audio.o module works for all AD18xx chipsets, but not the AD19xx chipsets as far as I can understand.

Does anybody know of any drivers, or ways to get this soundcard working? ALSA won't even do it. :(

We're just pissed off because we bought 18 gx260's at work and dell cleverly and coincidentially stuck in the one linux-unfriendly soundcard.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a big jerk. :) EDIT: my jerk friend borrowing my login to post his linux question cuz hes more 1337 than I am...

Thanks in advance,

I looked but didn't see any readily available solutions (e.g. OSS or ALSA) but you can try modifying the drivers for the other chipset and playing around with it. Maybe the company will give you overtime :)
