Ad showing up on Windows Vista but not XP

Hi,

Have a laptop running Windows Vista Premium w/ latest update. When I go to a few websites, I would see a flash video ad near the top of the page. This ad appear both in IE7 and Mozilla 3.0.7.
On my desktop, I have Windows XP w/ SP3. I have Mozilla 3.0.7 and IE 7 installed. I went to the same websites, but don't see the flashs ads.
Any one knows what's going on here? I tried uninstalled all the extension for Firefox and then reinstalled just the adblock plus, the ads are still there. I've also tried uninstalled everything about Firefox and reinstall a fresh one with just the adblock plus, ads are still there. Like I said though, the ads appear both in IE and Firefox on Windows Vista Premium, but don't show up on Windows XP Pro.
I am stump at this point. Maybe someone can help me out. Thanks.

Perhaps Macromedia Flash is not installed on the XP Pro machine?

I have adobe flash installed on both machines. I am trying to get rid of the ad actually.

@RadicDreamer: What do you mean by hosts file? Host files in what program?

OK . . . what are your Pop-Up Blocker settings? Do you have the same firewall in each system? How about a link to the problem site?

Hosts file is located in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Its a file that lets you for example point ads.acme.com to 127.0.0.1 which is your own computer. Many ad blocking programs will do this to block ads. Open with notepad and check for any entries relating to ad sites

All,

Thank you for responding. Yes I basically have the same antivirus/firewall software with same setting. One of the site that I have this problem with is www.asianfanatics.net. When I go there, there's a blue popup bar right under the menu tab. Let me check with the host file.

Interesting. I just popped in your referenced site, and detect no popups. This is with XP Pro.

It isn't a popup, but more of a flash Ads below the menu tabs. That is the problem though. I don't see it in Windows XP Pro, but I see it in Vista. It is rather strange. The ad is showing up on your screenshot though. It is that Matrix ads. I don't see it on my computer with Windows XP Pro. I wonder what I did right with that computer.

Updated: Just check again with my computer running Windows XP. The ad is now showing up in Internet Explorer.

Thanks for responding corkyg. Yeah, my Windows XP Pro with Mozilla is not showing it, but with IE, it is there. But in Windows Vista, it shows up in both Mozilla and IE.
