I used to. The text that it adds to browser pages to accomplish it's goal just keeps getting larger and larger. Before long, pages take *forever* to load because the browser is loading all the fvcking bullsh|t bloat from Ad Muncher as well. It got to the point that I was browsing at speeds that reminded me of the horrid 28.8kbps days.

Closed Ad Muncher and *BAM* right back to blazing high speed browsing.

FireFox + AdBlock == t3h wiN!

Can it block the gamespy, rottentomato ads, etc that come up on a totally different page?

What AdBlock does is show you where the ad is coming from. Ads that are loaded from entirely different domains can still be blocked. In fact, you can block entire domains so you don't have to block, like, 999,999,999,999 different individual ads all from the same domain.

You have the choice to block anything you want, from the exact ad itself, to EVERYTHING in the folder on the webserver that the specific ad is in, to that folder's parent folder, to THAT parent folder's parent folder, etc. all the way up to and including blocking the entire domain if you so wish.

Nik I want to use Ad Block but will it block every single ad that ad muncher can?

How hard is it to add entrys to it to block ads that are not blocked? What about new ads that come along?

You right-click all the non-flash ads and choose either "AdBlock Image" from the right-click menu or "AdBlock Iframe" to block the entire ad placement so it doesn't matter what's in that space, AdBlock will remove the entire frame from the page. I do that when reading news sites because I don't like to see a huge ass ad right in the middle of the news story. AdBlock removes the entire square that the ad gets loaded into so all I see is a nice news story, paragraph after paragraph uninterrupted.

If it's a flash based advertisement, you know that right-clicking on the advert will give you the Macromedia Flash menu instead of the browser's right-click menu. In this case, AdBlock shows a small see-through "tab" along the top or bottom of the flash animation with the words "AdBlock" on it. You click that and continue the blocking process as normal to bypass the Flash right-click menu problem.

It sounds complicated when reading about it, but it's child's play when doing it.

Because it simply instructs the browser to refuse to load the ads instead of loading additional lines of code for every possible ad that instructs the browser to hide ads that it's already loaded into the page.

:confused: that was awkward.

Ad Muncher tells inserts lines of code for every single ad you block. Each time you block another ad, that's another line of code that Ad Muncher inserts into every page that you view in your browser. Your browser loads the entire page, ads and all, then executes the Ad Muncher code to hide those ads.

AdBlocker simply instructs the browser ahead of time to refuse to load those ads to begin with.

Ad block keeps saying its not compatible with this version of firefox (firefox 1.0.4) :(

I don't get it ? :(

I am using Firefox 1.0.4 and adblock works just fine.

Ok that worked. The first link at the very top of topic didn't. It kept saying that message of not being compatible on the link at the very top.
