Ad Blocker or Banner ad questions

I am on a dialup modem at home. I am using the Beta version of Google now that blocks many "pop" ups :)

Years ago when I was using the Mac, I had an ad blocker where I could set certain words, phrases and that part of the web page would not load. Surfing was greatly speeded up. Every time you went to that web page, that area of the web page would be empty.

I notice that many sites use "doubleclick" and"atwala" for loading many ads on web pages......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I would like to find a freeware ad blocker where I could block certain ads from loading.

Trust me, if you go to the same web pages over and over again and the same ads load, blocking them speeds things up :)

Is there such a product?

EMS Free Surfer mk II is an intelligent popup stopper, cache cleaner and surfing companion from
EMS-Project. It works with IE. FS and its fs-20 inference chain engine do not in any way
interfere with opening new windows. No white lists, block lists or anything; just start it and
surf in peace. And it's configuration free. There is no return to 'old style' popup stoppers
after trying Free Surfer. Free Surfer is just the best free popup stopper in net.
And at last you can also enable/disable those annoying GIF and Flash animations and it is
multilanguage supported. Get Free Surfer here - it's pure freeware.

AdFree filters your web connections as you surf, blocking the sites that provide banners. Unlike most other ad blockers, AdFree does not use proxies; it utilizes the Windows "Hosts" file. It also has the ability to block any server you do not want to access, including adult sites.

Ad Buster serves one purpose: to empower AOL users with the tools to regulate the amount of
advertising they receive while signed onto the America Online service. At first glance, you may
think that there is not much to this program. Essentially, you are correct. There is not much to
this program in terms of visual interface. The real power of this program is mostly behind the
scenes. Simply minimize the Ad Buster window into the system tray and go about your business.
When you come across an advertisement in the AOL service you want to close and keep closed,
simply right click over it. It will disappear. The ad will automatically be closed the next
time you visit that area!

I use any of these Free browsers , which have a built in pop up stopper . ( don't add ,
About Blank , to your filter list )
Use very little resources ( No Add's ) & are as good as any other browser .
Intergrates quitely into your system , do not take over . You can still run your normal browser , if you wish .

Go to the Kazaa Lite Website and get Supertrick. It block many website ads. There is also another tool called eDexter that replaces blocked ads with a transparent image. You can get both these in the "Other" download category.
