Hey All,

A good friend of mine was just diagnosed with acute Leukemia. Her doctors say that it is treatable, but my understanding of Leukemia is that it is a terrible disease, not matter what. Does anyone have any positive experiences with this disease. I.e., do you know anyone who has overcome it with few or no side effects?

I know two people who had Leukemia but I can't say that having that disease is a positive thing.

That has been my experience to date as well. The three people I knew with the disease all passed, so I am not hopefully for the fourth. And that sucks, considering that this particular person is just about the nicest person I know.

Good thing they caught it. ALL (which i'm assuming is what it is ) has a pretty good cure rate, maybe 80% ish among children and slightly lower in adults. If you're gonna get cancer, this is one of the better ones to get.

It really really depends..

Is it ALL or AML, if it's ALL is it B cell or T cell, how old is the person, how advanced is the disease, is it Ph positive, etc.
