Hey dcdomaian,

You know that Honda 2-seat convertible that's out there now. Not the Del Sol, but the one just recently released and rather limited.

What's the 'wurd' on that car. I had a short ride in one last week, but the guy didn't really get on it or anything.

The car to which you are referring is the S2000. It is pretty well the ultimate roadgoing implementation of VTEC, in that it has a smallish inline 4 (2.0 L) with VTEC, permitting it to rev up to 9000 rpm and achieve 250 BHP. Its ultimate performance capabilities are amazing, but, like any other VTEC car, it needs to be thrashed a bit before it will perform at the level at which it is capable. Mighty impressive for the cost, though, and it should be able to hang with a Z3 or base Boxster rather easily.

<< permitting it to rev up to 9000 rpm >>

that was one thing I did notice... with that high redline, the tach looked like it was pulled of a motorcycle.

True true... with that car, Honda was celebrating it's anniversary by returning to it's roots... motorcycle engines. Well not literally, but that engine is definitely a high rev engine. Definitely not a daily driver. My friend bought one right when it came out for around $36,000... a pretty good price since most dealerships were selling it for around $38,000. After he got married, he traded it in for an Acura CL Type-S. Can't really enjoy the car without taking it to its limits. At Busybeetoys, they had a little tidbit and photos of the S2000 in coupe and sedan form. It'd be nice if Acura brought it over as an IS300 fighter. Of course nothing is confirmed yet.

IMO the S2000 is nice, but 35k for a Civic? That's what I think of when I see ANYTHING Honda. ;) For 35k you have better options....

I also heard the next gen Integra, which won't be called an Integra, will have a detuned S2000 engine. Anybody else?
