Acura TL or Infinite G35?

I'm in the market for a new car (well new to me), and my latest thoughts are between an Acura TL or an Infinite G35. I'm looking for a car that's somewhat sporty and has some power, but also looks nice and somewhat luxurious. At first I was thinking about a Subaru WRX (STi), but I'm kind of shying away from that now because basically I'd only be buying it for the power. They don't look the best and and really aren't that practical unless you get the wagon or something.

So which one of those two cars would you all recommend? Oh, btw, I won't be buying new...probably would get an '05 model or something.

the g35 is a gas guzzler (if you cared), but also looks better betweent he two. the tl is more luxurious. both are pretty good in terms of power. sti is kinda snug and the seat is not so comfortable. ever considered a evo?

I've been daily driving an 06' STI for the past 1 /34 of a year and it's been a blast. At times I do wish that I had more luxuries in the car but when I mash on the pedal and drive,
I just get this overwhelming feeling of enjoyment out of my STI.

I just love it that much. I've never had such an attachment to a vehicle before my STI and the sheer thought I had once of giving it up for a better mileage approved vehicle just brought tears to my eyes (well, not literally but yeah).

I've done some suspension mods (sways, strut bars, springs) and added some prodrive mud flaps for the rally look. I've even put a new catback + SRI for a lil additional power up top. Now I'm just saving and waiting to go Cobb stage 2 and get a protune to harnest the additional power from the larger exhaust system. I just can't wait!!!! The car is just pure and raw.

So it's that much fun huh? I did test drive one (not an STi), and it still packed quite a punch. I'm still considering it, but I was afraid that after a while the fun factor from the insane amount of power might wear off. I want to go test drive another one (this time an STi) before I rule the WRX out.

Another vote for the Lexus IS250 or IS350. These cars are a blast to drive around.
I'd say that they're definitely smaller than the TL though. But isn't the Infiniti G smaller too??

Did you rule out the TSX?

Also, its "Infiniti"

but price is a big con. doesnt it cost north of 45K? the TL and G35 are both sub 35K

Also when looking at price, you have to remember Lexus depreciation is usually very low, i think comparable to Acura's hotter selling models and usually beats Infiniti.

Indeed it is that much fun. Interestingly enough, during my search for a new more powerful/luxurious vehicle, I was choosing between the G35, TSX, IS250 and strangely enough the STI. If you're an enthusiast and enjoy spirited drives from a vehicle that carves the road with simplicity, I definitely recommend test driving it and seeing just how much fun you can have with it. Don't be afraid to just blast through corners at a higher speed than you normally wouldn't with a boatier feeling vehicle. It really does make me feel like a rally driver at times. LOL 😛

What kind of real world gas mileage did you get in the STI?

There's also a new TSX with significantly more power that is supposed to be available this spring if you can wait.

I've got a TL. Here's a few comments on it.

Look at the manual, it is very quick. The auto, not so much.
Great trunk and interior room.
Stereo is incredible
I get around 30-32 mpg hwy.

Hm... Gas mileage would be around the following:

City - 17MPG
Hgihway - 22MPG

The TL would be the best choice really. I had an 06 6spd and it was a great car. It was comfy, got good gas mileage and had enough power to propel itself along nicely.

I also have an 05 STi but they're both very different cars. Cross-shopping between them would be a nightmare since what one lacks the other has and vice-versa.

G35 has poorer resale than the TL and you can get more car for less going with a used one.

So dollar for dollar, you will probably be able to get a newer and/or lower milage one.

If value isn't the most important thing, then I think the TL offers a better overall package than the G35. More refined, more economic, better options, ect.

TL owner here...it's a toss up. I might have gotten a G35 if a good friend didn't already have one. I think the IS250/350 are overpriced.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone.

I hadn't really considered the Lexus IS250/350. I'll definitely have to go give them a test drive. But what's the main difference between the 250 and 350? My price range is around $25,000, so if I did get one I'd be looking at an '03/'04.

Also, does the Acura TL really get over 30 mpg on the highway? That seems crazy. Isn't it a pretty sporty car?

250 comes in AWD or RWD and manual or auto but only had 204hp. The 350 come in RWD 6 speed auto only but had 306hp and will give a Mustang GT a run for it's money in acceleration.

For $25k i dont think you can get a IS350 since it was new for 2006, inthat case I'd go with a G35 coupe. The Sedan hasn't aged well styling wise.

25000$ tag i'm not sure where an IS would fit because i think the Is300 goes up to 05/06 and they can be had in the 21k area with 20k miles but a IS300 is not = a g35 or TL IMHO. I wanted to get a older 99-00 IS300 that was probaly at 12k with 80k miles on it. Its more of a budget lexus those years.

Now the New IS250/IS350= g35/TL

an acura TL is not a pretty sporty car. I guess you can get a TL-S. None of the cars you listed really falls into a sporty car, they are more of premium cars and often times they dip into sporty packages and features. 30mpg i would not thing so with that 3.2 motor they have there.

I get 30+ everyday on the way to work. Probably because 6th gear is so tall. This is 75-90 Mph.

One more comment about the TL. The thing just loves to travel comfortably, yet firmly at high speed. 85-120 happens VERY quickly.

So which car did you prefer between the STi and TL?
