Acura TL: Brake Parts

2003 Acura TL, 62K miles, original brakes. Front pads and rotors need replacing. What should I look for in replacement parts? I'm seeing all sorts of different options and claims.

Before anyone can answer this question, first answer this:
1) How much did you want to spend?
2) Were you happy with the stock braking or did you want to go beyond?
3) Are you looking for functionality or cosmetic? or Both?

I drive a Crosstour which is the little brother to the TL, but virtually the same as the TL. If you plan to do the work yourself and want to go up one notch and stay under the $200 mark, I would recommend to go to your local auto parts store, get 4 good name brand rotors and some name brand ceramic pads and your good to go. If you want to spend more money for brakes, its easy to do, but you will quickly go past that $200 mark for little return.

2) Stock brakes were fine. Just your basic commuter car

I would use all honda parts. Many newer rotors can't be turned and must be replaced.

I would use honda pads and random Chinese rotors because they will need to replaced.

autozone had front rotors for $47 each.
Rockauto has centric C-tek for $30 each (i get these all the time, never had issues)
Amazon had the same C-tek for $28 shipped

Looks like you can get this done under $150 easily.

I was surprised to hear a mechanic tell me this. But I guess it's true.

I have not changed pads/rotors in an Acura, but all Hondas I have done have been very easy.

Centric rotors, OEM Honda/Acura pads. Honda/Acura stock pads are very good and well-suited to their cars.

Most rotors CAN be turned, but it's pointless to do so because it doesn't save much money and just means they are going to warp out of spec even faster than before. I always replace rotors with every pad change.

The Crosstour has basically nothing in common with a 2003 TL, which was based on the 1998-2002 Accord.
