Pulled from ToV...

According to the 3/26 issue of Best Car Magazine of Japan (page 13)

The next generation NSX will incorporate a i-VTEC V6, somewhere around 3400cc, and produce around 350hp. The interesting bit of information is that the car will be made of aluminum and take advantage of Honda's hybrid technology. According to the article, Honda wanted to take a different route then the 911 and the F360 Modena. Best Car did not specify if the horsepower rating was with the electric motors taken into consideration or not. Since, the Honda Insight is made in the same factory as the NSX, the aluminum body and the hybrid motor was considered. In the past, the next NSX was rumored to be a V-8 or V-10, but current revelation point that the next NSX will be a i-VTEC V6 with electric motors, the weight saving benefit is not clear at this time, but the next Honda will surely be more compact. But the Honda's philosophy that the next NSX will be a F1 on wheels that is comfortable and fun to drive remains intact.

Current estimations

and while I'm posting this, ToV also has some information on the redesigned CRV, and the Honda version of the MDX.

All I can say is the hybrid will REALLY set it apart from the other 'sports cars.' DAMN! Hybrid engine in that sucker would be SWEET!!!

I seriously doubt a Honda supercar is going to have a hybrid powerplant. Lightness is critical to a supercars performance and batteries weigh a ton. The NSX is a great car but it's overdue for a makeover.

the batteries can't weight that much because the insight only weigh about 1200 lbs. Besides it doesn't have to have as many batteries as a straight electric since its a hybrid.

gotta use some pretty expensive batteries to keep the car light.

but I've always seen NSX as the highly overrated supersport. Way overpriced as well. I mean, when compared to anything within its pricerange, it's among the slowest in straights and in turns.

The Insight weighs 1850lbs. which isn't all that impressive considering its diminutive size and extensive use of lightweight materials. When the NSX came out the automotive press praised it as being a civilized exotic. A car that you could drive on a daily basis unlike "the rest" which are tiring after just 30 minutes. If you think numbers tell the whole story you've got a lot to learn. Ya, it never achieved mainstream appeal but it sold reasonably well and was a marvel of engineering. At over 10 years of age its in need of a major update. And lets not antagonize Corvette boy.
