Bingo! We have a winner. Interior still pales in comparison to the ES330. The TL's interior screams "expensive Accord" while the ES is truly luxurious

Considering the TL came out like two weeks ago, you probably haven't even sat in one yet.

Anybody can look at the pic posted above of the TL and look at the ES330 and see that the TL's interior looks little more than a spiffed up Accord. All the grey/silver/black plastic makes it look like an economy car. No warm tones at all there. Hell, Acura still uses fake plastic wood in all of their vehicles...even the MDX.

This is luxury:

And that's why Lexus kills Acura.

You may call it luxury, but it's still hidous: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2004/lexus/es330/100322064/photogallery.html?pg_type=Sedan&imgsrc=%2Fpictures%2FVEHICLE%2F2003%2FLexus%2F100137061%2F006460-T.jpg

Not only that, but the Acura has a larger LCD navigation screen, and better audio.

I would more prefer to have a Toyota powerplant, engineering, interior versues some Acura with a goofy navigation screen and an audio system that can be upgraded with aftermarket units.

And the Toyota's audio can? And what's wrong with a LARGER navigation screen - nothing goofy about that.

Well, all signs from the current reviews point to "no". 😉

Lexus don't need audio upgrade, they either come with Nakamichi or Mark Levinson

Taken from thecarconnection:

"
As sweet as the interior is in appearance and comfort, what Acura is most proud of, and anyone who gets in the car who isn't deaf must be impressed with, is the sound system. Pounding through eight perfectly placed speakers with tuning by legendary record producer Elliot Scheiner, and grabbing its signals from super-duper, sky-high, mega-fidelity DVD-Audio discs, this result is an aural orgy. There are people with $100,000 worth of audio systems in their homes who don't get sound this good; where you can almost hear Eric Clapton's fingers brush against the guitar strings and feel the breath leaving a singer's throat. The sound is specific (horns over there, strings over here, voices up, timpani down), exciting, and unmatched."

Every review of the car has echoed the same sentiments.

I do not doubt that the Acura has a nice audio system and a LARGER navigation screen thing, but I would not purchase that car based on those two details.

I am sorry but everything that Lexus offers >> Acura's audio and navigation system.

Dust yourself off and try again.

Then what was the point of your priginal post? Also, please explain why you wouldn't purchase this car over the Lexus ES?

Who is to say that the audio isn't on par with the audio from the Mark Levenson (sp?) systems? I honestly don't believe that regular CDs will sound much different in either vehicle.

You're making an assumption based on NO EVIDENCE.

Why would I purchase the Acura over the Lexus? I think the Lexus has much better styling, way above what the new TL has. The interior of the Lexus looks much better. The Lexus line, if I remember correctly, is the number one car line for quality.

Sorry if you are a Honda fanboy and it hurts to think that somebody may not care for the TL, but I think the Lexus is just the better car of the two.

Hey dipsh*t, if an audio system has the speakers and amp to put out music that good, you can bet your ass it will still sound good with lesser CDs. What you're saying is like saying an audiophile setup will suddenly start performing like sh*t if you feed MP3s through it.

Seriously, STFU, you have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

I don't know if Acura has been really trying to break into the "stuck up" or "ultra elite" markets as the article suggests.
I believe their Acura brand is simply trying to provide a good value with good ol honda reliability. I guess we'll see where they go from here.

Honda Fanboy?!? What makes you jump to that conclusion? Because I prefer the TL over the ES? I'm sorry, but anyone who actually likes this exterior needs to lay off of the crack: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2004/lexus/es330/100322064/photos.html?tid=edmunds.n.photogallery.vdpheaderphoto..0.Lexus*

Honestly, I'd take the TL because it has a much more powerful engine, the based model has more features than the ES, while being priced similarly, the Acura audio system is standard (while the levenson audio system on the Lexus isn't). The Acura has HIDS, traction control, and heated seats - while the base ES doesn't. Not to mention that a 6-speed manual tranmission is available on the TL, but not on the ES. The TL also has more passenger volume, headroom (front and rear), and legroom (front).

Why should you buy the ES over the TL again? Oh yea, so you can eat the cookies lexus provides you while you get your oil changed
