hey chief, BMW does not cover tires on their preowned cars they have for sale.

FFactory those are not so bad. Remember that the warranty is prorated and not replacement.

Well I said screw it and got the RE050A Pole positions since Spring and Summer is close. They rock and grip up nicely!

BTW, I looked at the tire and it said 280 Tread. Thought someone said 140

I looked them up on TireRack: UTQG for the RE050A

Apparently there are some sizes that TireRack does not stock that are rated 280. Link.

However they still will not last nearly as long as a set of decent all-season tires, even high-performance all-seasons.

The real life treadlife of the RE-01Rs are considerably lower than the RE-050A PP. I don't think they're a good choice for 98% of the drivers out there - you'll be lucky to get 10-12K miles out of them. It's the new autocrossers choice of tire for good reason.

The RE-050A PP are still summer only tires so to the OP who says it doesn't snow much in Philly - are you kidding me? You obviously don't need to take advice from the internet, but I second the person who recommends that you buy a winter set of tires if you want to roll on the PP during the summer. You'll have nil to zero grip on snow and not much grip when its below 40 degrees unless you really get some heat into the tires.

Also expect that your fronts will need to be replaced every 15K miles or so.

BTW I do really like the RE-050A PP tires - I ran them on my S2000 for a year and loved them. They give very good grip when warm and very good grip in the rain for the majority of its treadlife. However even in NorCal - you have to baby them when they're cold and be prepared to replace the drive pair of tires almost annually.

Got my 05 TL in Dec 2004...

Replaced the stock michelins at 22.5K w/ some BF Goodrich GeForce tires.

These tires lasted about 23K as well. Put some Falken ZE912s (4 tires for $350 shipped and another $100 to have them mounted plus road hazard)...
