Acupuncture is really helpful, but only for certain areas. (When you upset your stomach, and right after you sprain ankle or knee or somewhere) You really should be wary of those who practice acupuncture that say otherwise.

I play soccer every week and had various sprains and worse injuries. With acupuncture I was able to get back on the field in 1-2 weeks. Considering I was using crutches I consider acupuncture the credit.

It really depends on how good your accupuncturist is. They definitely aren't all made the same.

get a good recommendation from someone with a similar ailment (mine was recommended by my martial arts instructor, she's great!)

Any more personal experiences? Every MD in the cosmos says that it's placebo (and my personal experience supports that), but then again, maybe not?

I seriously doubt that.

It does work well and visibly for certain ailments if done right. My mom dragged me into watching Oprah a few weeks ago where they had a chick with chronic back pain undergo acupuncture. By the end of the procedure she didn't feel a thing, and the therapist said with a few more sessions the pain might go away permanently.

My mom used to have serious migraine headaches (ER strength). After acupuncture they weren't as severe and she didn't get them as frequently. The tea that they prescribed for her was the nastiest smelling stuff ever.

Here's an article about acupuncture helping cancer patients. I work for a health care network and they routinely use acupuncture as a complementary therapy. It's not the primary cure, but it definitely helps.

The doctor in my family said the same thing about the plecebo effect. It may have results but a good part of it is you thinking it made a difference
