I am scratching my head as to what ActBlizz is thinking on this one.
We have this IP, but we can't milk the franchise- let's drop it.
Hmmm, EA picked it up. How could we make ourselves look like a bunch of money grabbing jack asses while helping EA make huge strides in credibility in the gaming industry at the same time? Let's sue over the game we dropped!
I mean seriously, this studio's hard work on what looks to be a very interesting concept is going to get thrown away because ActBlizz can't milk it for enough long terms cash, EA steps in to bring the project back to life- which Double Fine made clear they were going to try and do from the start- and then Activision pulls up with a $15Million dollar suit?
If I'm EA, I push this one hard to the press, take them to court, cause all of the noise about it they can- then pay the cash if that's what it takes to get the game out the door for its' ship date. The positive PR combined with the negative PR to their main competitor? The monetary value of it is a pittance in comparison.
