Active -vs - passive

If your question is in regards to cooling...

Generally, passive cooling is with a heatsink only, whereas active cooling is with a heatsink and a fan attached.
 
I think your right. I just wasn't sure. Does anyoen know if any of the aftermarket HSFs will work on the 5300 series quad Xeons?

uhh... thats a 771 platform cpu if im not mistaken.

Is it going in a U rack? or you putting it in a system box?

however good luck finding a board where you can overclock it. At best you can do a pin mod.
