Activating ftp?

Hi all,

I want to use ftp on my computer in the univ. But ftp clients won't work. However, IE can be used to browse through ftp sites and download files fine. I think I need to do some setup for this. Could anyone tell me how to do this?
 
With 'ftp clients won't work', do you mean that you cannot download with the ftp-client? Then try using to download in passive mode.
