Acronis True Image 10 - $31.90 @ newegg

pontifex

I just purchased a copy of Acronis True Image 10 last night from Newegg.

Its normally $49.99 at Acronis.com but Newegg has it for $31.90.

You can also purchase the boxed retail version for $39.99 + 4.99 shipping, which is still cheaper than at Acronis.com

This is a really nice backup and image software. I backed up my 30 GB windows partition in less than 20 minutes. The size of the image on normal compression was 5.4 GB
I could get it down to 4.6 GB (i think) if i did the highest compression.

It also has an email backup and application settings backup utility as well as the normal file backup ability.

Very nice interface and very easy to use.

I just upgraded from 9 to 10 a couple weeks ago for $24.99.
This is a must have app!! I use it all the time to back up my drive. It has prevented numerous headaches and loss of data. Highly recommend and price is excellent.

fyi.. Looks like you can get it on Frys.com for $29.99 plus shipping, too. Thanks for the heads up on Fry's, esquared and also for the heads up at the egg, pontifex.

Yes the boot up cd can have a lot of issues with your mouse not working. Does anyone else use a usb mouse and it doesn't work with the bootup cd ?

I have a USB mouse and have no problem with the boot CD.
Do you have legacy USB support enabled in your motherboard BIOS? It could be that you don't.

I've used Ghost and Acronis in the past and Acronis has been more consistent with restores in my experience. Recently (last year and a half or so) I've relied on DriveImage XML (free) which also creates partition images while in Windows. You can do your restores from there as well. The only restores you can't do from within Windows are of the copy of Windows you're booted in and those can be done via a BartPE CD with the DriveImage XML plugin.

I did a writeup on DXML and the automation of creating images here - http://frozenpixels.wordpress.com/backups-part-1/

Those Amazon reviews are not a solid endorsement: 1/3 (or more?) of the reviewers seemed to have major problems with it.
