Acronis backup question

I have an incremental backup of the C partition to be run on a scheduled basis.

What happens when the partition containing the image files becomes full? Do I have to manually delete some of the incremental images that have been created in order to create free space, or does Acronis automatically start overwriting previously created images?

Wedge1,

If you are putting the image into the Acronis Secure Zone then it will overwrite them automatically from what I have seen. I don't think it does that if you have it saved to folder on the same or another drive. Just gives an error when it runs out of disk space.

Hope that helps you out..

Pardon me for jumping in. :D

What's the advantage to doing incremental backups? I know they go faster but if it's a scheduled task, what difference does it make? Wouldn't it be far simpler to just do a full backup each time and overwrite the previous one?

Well, for one, an incremental backup only backs up the files that have changed since the last backup. This means that you don't need to waste the time backing up all the files everytime you want to do a backup.

Yea but......

I have the backup scheduled to run at 2am. it takes about 20 minutes. I'm asleep and couldn't care less about the time.

I assume most backup are scheduled to run at off peak hours, no?

Well, incremental backups also allow more room for error (more backups to choose from should something go wrong and you can't pinpoint exactly when the problem occurred).
