9.31 will have another exploit in it, then they'll release 9.32 in a few days, should I just wait?

TBH I gave up with Adobe Acrobat, I don't even understand how they manage to put security issues in such a simple (or, should be) program.

Adobe Reader stopped being good/useful around version 2/3.
Now it's piece of horribly bloated #$@$%@#$%
And for that reason I hate PDF with a passion!

Actually I see a movement. Lot of people hate Adobe PDF/Flash more and more it seems, and for good reason.

It's seriously time for a new dominator, and it has to be open source and not proprietary.

Yup, Adobe reader can go to hell. I haven't used it(on my machines) in years, and it's made computing so much more pleasurable :^)

There's nothing wrong with timely updates. Look at the number of security-related updates Firefox has had.

The problem is they extended the PDF format to include quite a few features. It's the cornerstone of their enterprise forms application and includes security, data validation, etc. Acrobat (and Reader) have to support those features, and its generally where they run into trouble.

A number of their recent security problems have been related to the JavaScript engine.

its such a pain to get a MSI from them, which is stupid since its supposedly aimed at enterprise anyways

i should just punch 3000 holes in my firewalls so their autoupdaters can run all the time and give all my users admin rights so it will patch itself

javascript on a pdf? Why? See, they ruined what the whole idea behind PDF is. E-paper. It should be a basic non complex document format for reading static content.

I actually even dropped foxit. It always crashed/left open processes that would suck 100% CPU/couldn't disable its stupid banner

Try PDF-XChange Viewer, its completely free and is completely nag free as well.

Sumatra PDF - another light alternative.

Simplicity, lightness and no nags. It's just a basic viewer, so it has less features than the others. It's also portable (no install) and open source.

Foxit still can't display all PDFs correctly.
As soon as there is a table in the PDF ... Foxit blows.

I use the old 1.3 version of Foxit. The 3.x versions have become increasingly bloated (although still a long ways off from Adobe Reader) and render pages much more slowly. This old version does have a few bugs though, so I might check out some of these other programs people are bringing up.
