Well my first few drunks were basically on beer. First time I tried it (same for coffee) I was NOT a fan. That is why until about 21 I drank only hard liqour...well not only but most of the time, because you could hide the taste of alcohol behind the mix.

However, after a few years I really began to like the taste of beer and its really all I drink now. Hard liqour mixed tastes a little too harsh to me and reminds me of my years of drinking too much. Beer I find very tasty and yummy. I still love rum & coke but unlike beer you can't really sit down for a few rum & coke to relax because you quickly find those few turn into a pint and then you're in a bad state.

There is something to be said about moralpanic's post. I suspect that much of the reason I like beer is because all times in the past I drank it I had a good time. Now the first sip and instantly my mood goes up 2 points (who said you don't need liqour to have a good time :))

It really did take me several years to get a taste for it but now I can truly say I really enjoy it. Didn't take quite so long with coffee but now I really like coffee. Partly again this would be because i like the effect of caffeine on me and with the taste of coffee I associate a nice feeling, thus I love the taste.

<< Moralpanic,

Good beer is good food. I first tried beer at age 8 or so. I had a few glugs of a real bitter in London and a real Czech pilsner in Czechoslovakia. I liked it right away - even before I liked scantily clad women!

Cheers.

Haha. Those czechs are something else. When I was in Prague, I remember them drinking fom 1L mugs along with their breakfast. Never tried it though, maybe next time.
