Acquire one or two Office 2007 academic licenses?

Hey all,

My university says that they won't be giving out Office 2007 until April because of "disc issues from Microsoft". :( I would like to test this much sooner and I found out that I can get an academic license and media from large resellers right now.

Only snag? It seems that I need to buy at least five and I only want one or two.

Is there a place that will split these up for me? Or am I SOL? :(

Thanks! :)

But I think the trial version won't accept an academic key. Also, I think you won't be able to get around it with a repair install with the academic disc - the academic install does not recognize the existence of the trial version.

At least, this was my experience when I tried to make my "trial" copy of Office 2003 legit after I bought Office 2003 academic.

Probaby true. I'm not sure if any Trial version of any MS application will accept a Volume License Key (such as an Academic Volume License).

Whether it does or doesn't probably won't make a lot of difference. It only takes a few minutes to reinstall the entire Office Professional Suite. It'll probably even keep your settings if you ask. And most folks don't have a lot of custom settings, anyway.

I suspect that having 60 days to play with the Trial version it is better than having nothing at all. :)

Drat, I was hoping to get this sooner. :( It seems odd that Microsoft wouldn't have this problem fixed for four months.
