Hi
I currently have a Asus P3BF rev 103 with BIOS 1004. I have Windows 98SE.
I just built a second system using also using an Asus P3BF but rev 104 and came with BIOS 1005. I installed the same Windows98SE disk but,
when I checked my device manager in the new system, it says ACPI pci steering and SMI is using an IRQ. My other system doesnt have these.
How did it get installed and do I need it. I really need the IRQ that the SMI took up. What is ACPI and SMI also

Disable ACPI in the BIOS if you want the IRQ.

ACPI is Advanced Configuration Power Interface. Advanced power management, basically.

SMI is Systems Management Interface. Similar to ACPI....manages the devices in your system.

You don't really need....they are not essential to the working of your system.
