Breitbart tries extorting the AG while a guest on Hannity... That's rightwing journalism at its finest.

Lavelle Stewart does a mighty fine okey-doke... yeh, she'll get back to 'em, which means she just blew 'em out her ass...

If he had anything worth mentioning, he'd have tossed it out there already... as a fix for the outrage addicted teabaggers at the base of the Repub party... What America really needs is a twelve-step program for that...

Got PJ's panties in a wad, anyway, or just helped to keep 'em bunched up... admit it, you're powerless over your addiction...

Can anyone really believe that conservatives would be apologists if the NRA or the Heritage Foundation or Club For Growth were repeatedly caught on tape advising people how to use imported children for prostitution? The media would be frothing at the mouth, and conservatives would be right there with them. But if it's a politically useful group like ACORN, liberals defend them like mother bears with cubs. Seriously, WTF? Have you guys no shame? Is there nothing a liberal person or organization can do (short of agreeing with a non-liberal) that causes you to censure and oppose them? Child prostitution is pretty high on the evil scale to most folks I know, conservative or liberal, yet liberals here either defend ACORN, or attack people who bring it up. I would have thought the vast majority of people would agree that this is a horrendous thing, yet at least a plurality here seem to think it's a much worse thing to criticize ACORN.

Well according to a poll released today -

"Fifty-two percent of national GOPers said ACORN stole Obama the presidency; only 27% think he won it legitimately. "

http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2009/11/acorn.html

So yeah, tears of unfathomable sadness...yummy.

LMAO at this poll! Nope, couldn't have had anything to do with the GOP destroying the country...

Oh yes, I forgot, it is Obama and the dems that did that...

Righties are deep in denial. Their team just finished screwing up 2 wars, pissing on the Constitution, trashing the economy for the benefit of the true Bush constituency... rendering much of the middle class into working class...

But they still have faith, yessirree...

If they caught their preacher boffing their spouse, they'd pretend it never happened- Hell, they'd believe it never happened...

Why does it not surprise me that hardly any libs in this forum have come out against child prositution? There was more outrage over an adult Republican senator tapping his foot in a bathroom than this. There is no shame from the left. They'll exploit anyone, even children, to push their agenda. Its funny how its doesn't ever seem to be the conservative judges that are lenient on child rapists and molesters. Its pretty fucking digusting that politics has come to this that we can't even universally agree that child prostitution is bad.

If you notice they don't comment on the actual despicable behavior of ACORN, just do their best to deflect. And the silence is directly a show of support for ACORN's actions.

Regardless of political leanings, this is despicable pattern of behavior of a completely to it's core corrupt criminal organization. Where is the investigation? Maybe they have dirt on Holder, that would be awesome.

I don't think anyone on this forum supports child prostitution, but i do think that some of the posters on the left think that ACORN is too valuable to the Democrats to want to criticize it, even when the criticism or even condemnation is well deserved.

Are you dense enough to think anybody in this forum supports child prostitution?

Actually you are.

When ACORN is delivering the votes, I guess the left will support just about anything as evidenced by the lack of criticism here. Hell, the OP is taking more flack than ACORN is.

Of course you don't want it discussed because it makes your party look bad they are delivering the votes for your candidates. Maybe we should start another Sarah Palin thread instead to keep you interested?

actually we care tremendously about these issues....
We just do not care about anything you start a thread about...get a clue.....

Yup this is correct.

The wierdo Right takes it in a bad direction.

ALL YOU NEED is the Undisputed facts:

Acorn falsifies voting paperwork.

BHO used to work for them.

They are biased.

They have recieved millions of taxpayer dollars.

Acorn officials were caught on tape giving tax ADVICE on how children brought into this country under the pretence of being a prostitute could be used as a "dependant."

My opinion:

They should never be given 1 cent of taxpayers dollars again.
Criminal investigation should begin.
Stricter Regulation and oversight on non-profits vote wranglers and being able to vote in general. It is far to easy to vote. Anyone who has a problem with voting should get off their lazy ass and take care it before hand.
Community Organizers of this ilk should take up their proper place inbetween used car dealers and lawyers. Instead of being raised up as saints.

ACORN is important due to the fact that every time their supports claim that their is no problem, another issue surfaces.

ACORN was held up by the Dems as a guiding light and has continually been shown to have feet of clay.

IF there was nothing to them, then Congress would not have cut off fundings.

With the latest exposures, the question is why is Holden not following up. Congress made itself clear that Acorn was an issue.

ACORN is not the same as Palin in terms of getting frothed over.

Well it looks like ACORN is back on line to get a lot of taxpayer dollars.

The first reference is to a vote taken yesterday to clarify that the prior resolution to ban ACORN from federal funding did just that. The Democrats, on a Party line vote, defeated the amendment 9-5. I am posting Rep. John Boehner's public response to this.

Following that I thought it might be interesting to see how ACORN advocates set up the Congress to continue funding, while being on the record against such funding.

Dems Vote to Allow Federal Funding for Corrupt ACORN
by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)

Last night, defying the will of a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, Democrats voted to allow the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to receive federal taxpayer dollars.

In September, large Congressional majorities in both houses voted to sever all ties between the federal government and ACORN. The Senate vote was 85-11; the House vote was 345-75. You’d think that those votes, which USA Today described as prohibiting “any federal funding for the community organizing group,” would have settled the matter. You’d be wrong.

Months later, with the country’s focus on jobs, healthcare, and the Global War on Terror, Democrats are moving to restore funding to ACORN. Last night, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) offered an amendment during deliberations on the Democrats’ massive year-end appropriations bill to clarify the prohibition on federal funds going to ACORN or its subsidiaries. That amendment was shot down on a 5-9 party line vote as Republicans sided with taxpayers while Democrats stood with ACORN.

Rep. Latham’s amendment is necessary to prevent taxpayer money from going to ACORN because the Obama Administration’s Department of Justice has taken advantage of a legal loophole to allow ACORN to continue to receive federal funds – despite the passage of the House GOP’s Defund ACORN Act in the fall.

The American people and the Congress have spoken loud and clear: ACORN should be denied any taxpayer funds. Period.

ACORN has already received far too much money from the American people. An analysis of federal data by the Office of the Republican Leader staff determined that ACORN has received more than $53 million in direct funding from the federal government since 1994, and has likely received substantially more indirectly through states and localities that receive federal block grants.

Enough is enough. The American people are tired of seeing their tax dollars wasted on an organization accused of serious crimes – and that’s why House Republicans are stepping up efforts to defund ACORN once and for all.

DOJ Defends ACORN Funding Ban While Gutting It
by Chris Berg

The Harshbarger investigation is getting a lot of attention this week; and rightly so. ACORN hired former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger to conduct an “independent” review of the organization in an effort to provide ACORN some cover to show that they were serious about reform. The Harshbarger report concludes that ACORN was not at fault, rather the blame should rest with its founder Wade Rathke, the intrepid aspiring journalists Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe who revealed ACORN’s most recent corruption, and the low level ACORN employees and members who were featured in the videos.

This attempt to whitewash ACORN and its employees’ wrongdoing has been appropriately decried by Representative Darrell Issa, the Republican National Lawyers Association, and contributors to Biggovernment.com.

ACORN’s pending litigation against the federal government has received less attention. Last week, unbeknownst to all but avid court or ACORN watchers a pivotal moment occurred in the lawsuit. Peter D. Leary, an attorney at the Department of Justice filed a brief defending the Congressional efforts to defund ACORN. His brief defended the defunding, while severely narrowing its scope and application.

Congress was clear in its decision to defund ACORN. The plain language of the Continuing Resolution (CR) is unmistakable:

“None of the funds made available by this joint resolution or any prior Act may be provided to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or allied organizations.”

The Department of Justice has however issued a memorandum severely narrowing its application.

Harvard Law School professor and Acting Assistant Attorney General David J. Barron concluded that the CR “should not be read as directing or authorizing HUD to breach a pre-existing binding contractual obligation to make payments to ACORN or its affiliates, subsidiaries, or allied organizations where doing so would give rise to contractual liability.” He reaches this conclusion by parsing the definition of the term “provided.” I wonder where Professor Barron was when President Clinton was attempting to define the word “is.”

This memorandum and its conclusions defy both logic and common sense.

Now we turn to the brief filed last week by the government. It defends the defunding of ACORN noting that the Executive Branch has interpreted the CR ban on funding narrowly, and relying heavily on the fact that a CR is by definition temporary in nature.

The brief relies on the Barron memorandum noting that “the Executive Branch has interpreted [the ban on funding] more narrowly, such that ‘section 163 does not direct or authorize [Agencies] to refuse payment on binding contractual obligations that predate the Continuing Appropriations Resolution.’”

To reinforce the point that the defunding is only temporary attorney Peter Leary states that “[t]ellingly, three of the four full-year Fiscal Year 2010 Appropriations Acts that have been enacted since the CR went into effect contain no provisions foreclosing plaintiffs from applying for or receiving federal grants.” The message is clear, Obama’s Justice Department will defend the actions of Congress to defund ACORN so long as they are only temporary and the free-flowing access to federal funds is restored soon.

This brief may be music to the ears of Representative Jerrold Nadler. If you recall he’s been fighting the ban and advising ACORN’s attorney on the issue. While DOJ has not gone so far as to agree with ACORN, it has eviscerated the intent and substance of the ban on funding.

It’s time for Congress to permanently defund this corrupt organization. Congress must protect the taxpayers and ensure that no more federal funds are not subject to waste, fraud or abuse by ACORN.
