FEMA Grant to ACORN is Offensive
Posted By Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) On September 29, 2009 @ 1:03 pm

Earlier this month and despite the public scrutiny over the voter fraud and felony criminal activity associated with ACORN, the Department of Homeland Security went ahead and granted $997,402 to ACORN under the FY 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Program.

To most people, the timing and the amount of the grant would seem off base, but when you take into account the fact that DHS awarded ACORN?an organization with no clear expertise in fire safety and prevention?a fire prevention and safety grant, it?s just plain offensive.

With fire departments all over Louisiana ? and the rest of the country ? struggling to make ends meet and get the equipment and training they need to protect their local communities, the idea of a million dollar grant going to ACORN is unsettling, to say the least.

I?ve had grave reservations about ACORN for some time, and over the past year we?ve seen numerous examples of serious allegations of wrongdoing on the part of this organization and its employees across the country. I simply can?t see the logic behind diverting much needed funding from worthy fire departments to this organization.

So last week, I wrote a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano requesting that she rescind this grant from ACORN. As of today, the Secretary has not responded to my request. This site will post a copy of the letter for you to read and see for yourself.

Rest assured, I?ll keep working to help prevent further ACORN schemes to procure federal money

Link

so, wtf is the deal here? who knew that ACORN was an expert in fire prevention and safety, that and tax evasion, smuggling in children to work in brothels, this shit just gets deeper and deeper.

w/ obama's acorn past connections, do you think they will always be "on the payroll" somehow?

Oh no, the street departments around the country will be prying up a few hundred right winged loons that leaped out of windows hearing this news.

Along with the fire grants ACORN is also in news for hard drives in Kansas that turned up documentation for plans to unseat GOP politicians and take over districts. Of course it was obvious for a long time ACORN wasn't non-partisan like it was supposed to be. Unfortunately the Dems/Obama have other malignant groups serving the same nefarious purposes.

This is an outrage! All of the scumbag cheats who would be covered by H.R.3571 - Defund ACORN Act should be CUT OFF from any more federal funds immediately!

In the spirit of vigilant citizen action, here is a list of the top 100 government contractors, led by Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, and the Raytheon Company, together with their 677 violations that should compel Congress to bar them from further government funds, same as Acorn!

Oh, and, as for that bill? Oops:

Immediately after the bill passed, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), a constitutional whiz, noted that the measure appeared to be a "bill of attainder" -- specifically targeting a company or organization or individual -- and is therefore specifically barred by the Constitution.

Oh, OK, that makes everything alright. The other guy did it first, so my guy can do it too. Now is simply "the other side's" turn to commit crimes.

Nothing to see here.

So why does Obama and this Democrat congress continue to fund these corrupt organizations? I thought this was going to be the most transparent and ethical Administration ever? Whats being done about this fraud? After looking at that list I see a lot of companies who are getting MORE money under this Administration. Is Obama stupid or is he corrupt?

Not at all, but I don't have 10 hrs of time to draw you a map. Figure it out on your own.

It might be a lot easier to draw said map if you had a relevant point to make.

One is not supposed to pay attention to what is stated prior to an election. Those that believe in promises; get what they are worth

I explicitly and thoroughly pointed out the hypocrisy, ignorance and stupidity of the illegal, Republican pushed anti-Acorn bill, but I guess you're not bright enough to comprehend that or honest enough to admit it if you do.

The point is you and your allies don't give a fuck about contractors stealing BILLIONS with a B of our tax dollars. Why? Because they're some of the biggest donors to your party.

Any attempt to cut off these leeches would be met with fierce opposition, even if they've been guilty, which many of them HAVE.

Instead you'll bitch and moan about a few million that ACORN received, and try to conflate it as some conspiracy to steal elections and support criminals.

FYI, your heroes just approved $50 million more for abstinence only education, that's more than ACORN has received in their entire existence.

liberalism is an emotional persuit. Not intelllectual. The larger the liberal failure, the more it's supported. How do you think carter and "blue dress" clinton manage to keep in the headlines? acorn gets the same support by their willing accomplices.

I voted for Obama you dolt. I have never been, nor will I ever be, a member of any political party. I believe that card-carrying members of any political party are mindless fucking idiots.

Wrong is wrong, regardless of your lame attempts to reduce every single issue to a petty partisan hissy-fit.

I'm against any further Government association/business with ACORN. I'm also strongly opposed to the $50 million for abstinence-only education.

See how that works?

Grow the fuck up.
