As long as its not a Maxtor i'd be happy with it.
I'd take a Maxtor over a WD any day of the week.

according to the newegg listing its a WD greenpower.

I hope so, I am going to rip it apart and use it in a server that I'm building.

post here if the serial numbers on your drive voids the warranty. i'm hoping acomdata just uses standard oem drive.s as they dont manufacture the drive anyway.

i ripped open one of the hitachi brand external ones before (granted it was a hitachi external drive with hitachi drive inside), and the drive died later and i ended up having my warranty voided.

Me either, but my drive arrived today. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I'm completely amazed that I actually got one. Thanks OP, this deal was SMOKIN' :)

i got mine. oddly it says 7200 RPM 1TB on a sticker on the box. I dont know if that means its not a greenpower or not.

Mine has the same sticker on the box but during boot my desktop detects it as WD10EACS.

Not sure what you mean, I took it apart and it's a WD green drive with a serial number on it. Could I check if it voided the warranty?

Wow, I am so suprised they honored that price. That was one hell of a find that I found.

Wish I would have had the money at that time to order one.

yeah i mean can you go on western digital's site and see if its a valid warranty.

sometiems they used some specia OEM serial number that cant be warrantied or something like that (thats how the hitachi brand ones are). did you have to break a seal to open it?

Well.. it's in the machine now, but next time I rip it apart I will take a look and verify. I am not all that concerned, in over 20 years of playing with PCs the only drive I ever had go bad was a refubished segate that I bought from ebay..

Yes, there is a little white tab over one of the screws in the back that voided the warranty....
