I'm 19 so I don't really apply, but I had horrible acne, and the only thing that "cured" it was scrubbing like crazy with hot water/washcloth, and using regular bar soap and water, nothing else.

I never had acne, not as a teen or an adult (I'm 36 now) but my husband breaks out easily. Two tips I can give you are to wash your sheets/pillowcases frequently and to make sure you don't touch your face much (like my habit of leaning my chin/cheek on my hand). Sun exposure seems to help his back.

staph presents in a variety of different ways.

Thank you. I believe I have some variation of that as I get what I thought were ingrown hairs on the back of my neck and the hair falls out.

Exactally. What people don't understand (most anyways) is the fact that the sun/UV rays kills the bacteria so your acne goes away. This whole "skin cancer scare" has been taken completely out of proportion making people think that just a little exposure will mean you have skin cancer  Skin cancer happens to people who get too much sun for too long, day after day.... Get some sun and I can guarantee you it will go away (and no 15 minutes of accumulated sun exposure through out the day is not enough).

If your immune system spends a lot of time defending your body against staph, it doesn't have the resources to fight the little pissy ass stuff.

I can show you a really cheap way to find out if your immune system is compromised, like it would be if it were fighting staph.

If you have it on your face, you might seriously try talking to a Mary Kay dealer or try Proactiv. I know people who had very good results with the Mary Kay cleaners/moisturizers, got rid of acne and red blotches.

Try http://www.zerozits.com/ ... that's who i've been using for a couple of years, and it's been great (they also have a forum that they're very active in if you want to read other's experience)... like i said earlier, most of the acne treatments today follow what's listed in The Acne Cure, including that link i sent you. Sageskincare also has body washes as well for body acne. The stuff may seem expensive, but they last a LONG time. I spend maybe $150 for a year's worth of the stuff. You can order the tryout packs for $50 which lasts over 3 months (mine lasted 6)

You can't just throw a comment like that out there without providing an example!

It's ATOT, we must experiment on ourselves!!

Have someone you like to shower with take one of those puffy shower things and soap it up and give your back a good scrub (even use a sandy exfoliator soap), once or twice a month. Helps tremendously because it takes off a layer of dead skin that is keeping your pores clogged.

The only thing that will really work is Accutane, and the side effects really suck. I was on Accutane once, finished the first treatment, but when the acne came back and I tried another treatment of Accutane, I started getting weird chest pains. My dermatologists told me to stop the treatment for 2 weeks then resume, but I just stopped forever, no regrets.

There really is nothing you can do besides take Accutane. Sorry buddy - diet, stress, etc. are all modifiers, but the acne will always be there till your hormones die down.

Accutane was ROUGH but it worked. I debated it for about 7 years before I finally decided to do it.

Was it worth it? On balance, I'd say yes... But I still wonder now (10+ years later) if there are going to be side effects down the road.

Accutane is overkill for you.

Your questions are all absurd.

For adult onset acne, the best medication is 100mg daily of minocycline.

http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/minocycline.html

I had mild acne that would flare up pretty bad in the winter all my life (I'm 37 now).

Minocycline cleared me right up.

Get this straight:

Acne is NOT caused by:

*Poor hygiene. In fact, excessive washing can make it worse
*Foods (unless you have a specific allergy, and then it's a rash, not acne)
*Workout habits
*Sun exposure does NOT cure acne. It only evens out color so the red spots don't stand out.
*You cannot catch acne from someone else.

Acne is caused by an uneven exfoliation of the skin, which in turn, blocks pores. It is genetic and hormonal.

Bullsh!t.

There are MANY effective treatments for acne. Accutane is a LAST ditch effort.

The ones I take are white capsles. They take up to a month to start clearing you up, and MUST be taken daily on an empty stomach.

At then end of my teens I had cystic acne, the deep and painful stuff, and accutane killed it...thank god...I only wish I tried it earlier.

However thats not what you have.

Another angle if its come on quicly is bed bugs and lice, but the pimples probably wouldn't last for months.

Good luck, and stay away from accutane - based on the pictures it certainly doesn't look like what you need.
