LANSING, Mich. (AP) ? A lawsuit challenging Michigan's law restricting funeral protests was filed Wednesday on behalf of a couple who were pulled over and arrested during a procession for a friend killed in Iraq because their van bore signs critical of then-President George W. Bush.

The concept behind the law was good (it was because of those "God Hates Fags" fucktards that were protesting dead soldiers funerals), but I agree with the ACLU that its too broad and can affect things like the people the OP mentioned.

Funny thing is the ACLU already defended(and won) a case for those Westboro church people.

It's their constitutional right to be a worthless collective disease on society. Why wouldn't the ACLU defend that right?

😕

Aren't churches and cemeteries private properties? I would have thought those idiots can only be at the side walk across from the church and outside the cemetery.

No, that's an unconstitutional power grab by the government. Rights aren't just for the people you agree with ;^)

Good for the ACLU

i think the law encompassed a certain area outside of private property as well, i believe.

I'm not disagreeing with that, which is why I'm saying I understand the idea behind the law, but I agree with the ACLU that the law itself is more than likely unconstitutional.
