I'm pretty sure there is a way to change the screens (start-up) for NT4 and W2K, if somebody knows how pleas email ViRGE. I will look up the info sometime today and post what I find later.

Could you change the link to distributed.net FAQ to actually say RC5/OGR, it is kind of confusing until you go further down the page and then it still isn't clear unless you click the link and then click another FAQ link after that. The words RC5/OGR are first seen 2 clicks away under the distributed.net FAQ link. I know it is mentioned further down the page, but you have to figure out that distributed.net is RC5/OGR. For someone not in the know it could be a source of frustration.

The mailing list link is great!🙂🙂🙂 If I join (become a member of the site) and ask to recieve email info there, do I still need to join this list? Nothing tells me that information.

I've noticed that the Java client for IRC is listed as --->Using the World IRC Java client (Currently Unavailable): I have used this client and it is not as simple as explained (at least it wasn't for me). That client required you download it (or a plug in type of thing) to your local PC and then configure it to the IRC server/channel you desired.

You make a very good point. I guess when I was laying things out, it never occurred to me that it wasn't obvious for a newbie that Distributed.net was RC5/OGR. The same could basically be said for the DCypher link... I'll see what I can get in place during lunch...

Also, the fancy SETI icon ... I'm open to new icons for the other contests, so if you've got talent, please send me icons. No guarantees they'll meet approval, but I will definitely pass the good ones on to the powers that be for consideration!

LD, I think the regexp doesn't like the two underscores in your email address. I've changed it so it should work now. Let me know if you still have trouble.

Looking good.😀 One thing, though, does anyone else think that the by eMail is far too busy? At 1024x768, on a 17", it's crammed so full that the stats numbers are merging with each other.

On my 19" at the same resolution it's fine, but I think there are a lot of people who don't have monitors that large.

Easy enough solution. We just have to stop producing such big numbers, then the columns will be narrower ... Hey, wait a minute ... OK, bad idea.

Actually, I think Mika removed one column for the new stats layout. It used to show 3 days worth, I think (today, yesterday and the day before yesterday).

I haven't had time to go through the 2K/NT start page info yet for ViRGE. I haven't forgotten about it though.

Someone stole my credit card info and has 12 charges to my business account all to porn sites!:| I've been dealing with that most of the day!:| (wish I would have known sooner, could have DL'ed tons of porn! hehe). My bank did me good though, took me a while to get through but only a few minutes after that and all charges will be credited. I'll bet I'll get a bunch of paperwork to fill out too.🙁 Managed to get an email address and an IP address (from different places) the bogus accounts were started from, along with dates and times said fraud occured! Going to nail this little @$%@#&amp;%$ if I can!
 
Sukhoi, I still haven't been able to contact Anand yet. I've even sent an email to NFS4(Brandon Hill) last night, with no reply. I'm going to have to start hunting down Anand's writers next.😉

Just an early thought, can we have a &quot;Hey-Join Us Now&quot; (or similar) on the front page? This site will be the first place we send potential recruits to, so we want to give them the feeling that we want them.

I think Russ is right about the stats thing. They appear to be much bigger (or am I just imagining that now that it has been pointed out?)

I will follow MW's lead and point a newbie at it and see if they can get the gist of what we are doing.

only gripe i have is that you can't change your password (?) im going to have to check the email everytime i want to login because there is no way im going to be able to memorize that garble of letters.

im fairly new to the whole distributed thing (i'd like to thank dennilfloss for getting me involved in this!) so i was wondering how do i get my stats displayed through the TA site? i have followed the guide to setting the TA proxy as a keyserver, but i dont see my stats. or will they just not be available untill the d.net stats are back online?

They should be available.

But if you're cracking for TA Cube (By virture of our recruiting demon Dennifloss 🙂, then it'll be a problem since you're cracking for the BORG e-mail and the number of users flushing to the core is too much to enable showing the By Hosts part of the stats.

An alternative is to flush to one of the baby bovines which have individual stats. You could also flush to my proxy here at jinsonxu.teamanandtech.com

Stats updated once every 30 minutes and less people here so you can check your herd stats using the By Hosts link.
 
The ability to not change the password is actually a feature. Unfortunately, most people have a tendency to use the same password everywhere, which means a lot of accounts are compromised if that password is found out. So, the current system has been put in place to keep you from doing that.:Q
 
jinsonxu, im not with tacube, i decided to just join TA for the moment, because while my stats may be poor, i like the idea of being able to check my individual stats. 🙂

thanks for clearing that up ViRGE, i understand why you do it now. is there a possibility that you could set it up like these forums, so IE can just memorize my login/pass, so all i have to do is click on my login from the drop down menu? that way when im at home i wont need to know my password or type it.

sorry for asking all these newbie-ish questions 🙂, but is there a way to search the stats on TA for a particular email address? like you can with the d.net stats?

Mindless, the code for that hasn't been made yet. Mika still needs to make it so that the server can get a list of people from Dnet. And Gorgonzola, no, I don't think that can be done because of how the password is inputed, but you can make a shortcut that'll log you in, as a link for that was provided in the email with your password.
 
thats what I was thinking, but its not going to grab stats based on the email we input is it?
My stats use a different email than what I use here, and there.

Although I guess if it does I can allways just retire my account into it.
