So, I was driving from Michigan to Long Island, in my beater Mustang. I accelerate to pass a truck...and there's a loud pop from under the car, the RPMs shoot up, and the car no longer accelerates. I coast to the side of the road. The car will no longer move an inch, in any gear, backwards or forwards. 🙁 RIP Mustang. AAA shows up, and the car is towed back to my parents' house - where it shall sit, until I'm home for Xmas and can clean it out. Then it's getting sold for parts.
So, I catch a flight (as luck would have it, the car died right outside Toledo airport), and rent a car for a week. I'm now temporarily sporting a stripper 2005 Cobalt - which is actually much quicker than I thought it would be. Anyways, I've got until Dec. 6 to buy something, as that is when the Cobalt is due back.
Gah, this sucks. What perfect timing, too, since I just put a $3k deposit down on massive engine/transmission upgrade for my Trans Am 1 FREAKIN DAY prior to this happening. :roll: I'm sort of waiting for AAA to start giving me crap about my Plus membership, as that makes two nearly 100 mile tows in 3 days.
