Ack, married people, need your help!

Easy. The wife's.

No. After 10 years there's gotten to be a multi family accomodation. But before we alternated years.

my mother-in-laws rule for christmas is even years we go to her house

i.e. you can alternate if its a big deal/hard decision

I always took the safe route and chose the overtime at work option,it saved me from boatloads of lumpy gravy and a cranky mother in law 🙂

weren't you the one complaining about how her mother was like eminem's mother in 8 mile? if so, the choice is obvious... yours 😛

her mom won't be there, it's a different part of her family. That's if we go to thier place.

Just do what I do and go to Houston with the guys instead......haha.

but seriously, taking turns is the best option........

neither.

you have started your own family. have thanksgiving at your house. invite both sides over and let the chips fall where they may.

my uncle and his wife take turns, his family is here, hers in long island

so, this year they go to long island for thanksgiving, but stay here for xmas (sometimes when they stay in town her parents come to them)

next year, theyll stay here for thanksgiving and go to her parents for xmas

then again, her parents are pretty nice and get along with his family rather well

How do you pick who's relatives you have Thanksgiving with???? I've got a dillema here...
That's simple. You head to the house where the food tastes the best. End of story. 😀

Seriously, like some of the others have stated, you might have to alternate each year between the two houses. For me, this was settled a long time ago because my wife's mother lives 200 miles away and my family lives 1,300 miles away. This makes it a bit hard to even alternate due to the distances involved.

Also, the other option that was pointed out - stay at home and start your own tradition is always an option - and a good one at that. How many times have you stuffed yourself while being over at someone else's house on Thanksgiving, sat on the couch and ended up falling asleep during the football game that was on? When you have Thanksgiving at your house, you can change into your sweat pants to get more comfortable - and even lay on your couch to watch the game. And who cares if you fall asleep during the game because your TIVO will record it for you. 😉
