Prilosec = does nothing, GF still had crippling nausea

1 week on protonix and she seems fairly normal.

:thumbsup: protonix has worked for me for years. nothing else ever did. prilosec stopped working once the 14 days was up, etc.

Not quite that simple - I got indigestion from drinking water. My indigestion is so bad, that if I miss one pill I will be suffering at some point that same day regardless of what I eat.

Maybe you should find out the root cause of that kind of thing and not use a pill to hide it with.

Doctors don't get paid to find out what's causing the issue.

They get paid to resolve the issue and the only tool they have is a pill (or surgery).

Also, one has to realize that it's not in doctors best self interest for patient to have healthy eating habits or isolate the issue themselves >deal with it on their own.

Someone already said it but get tested for h. pylori. It took 3 dr's before I found someone who knew what he was doing. After a month of antibiotics and zegerid my three years of hell with acid reflux finally started to go away. I can actually drink coffee and tea and not wake up with a sore throat in the morning from the acid pushing its way up.

I used to suffer from similar pains and it was ongoing for 5 years before a nurse at our college campus was smart enough to draw my blood to have me tested for the H-Pylori (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicobacter_pylori) bacteria. I was a broke student back then so when the results came back positive, she hooked me up with a bunch of free sample packets that did the job to kill the bacteria.

I think it's a 3 step process.
Anti Acid until it heals the lining
Pills to kill the bacteria
and Lastly a set of pills to flush it out.

I recommend getting a blood test to see if this is the case. It's well worth it to check because if it's positive, it's "curable" rather than something you have to learn to live with.

Yep. I had this and my doc prescribed the 'prevpack' to get rid of it. If you don't control H-Pylori, it can end up causing stomach cancer if untreated.
