Achilles Last Stand

So, I've been digging through my Led Zeppelin collection, a LOT as of recently, and was surprised to learn I hadn't really played every song from every album up till point. I've been stuck on some great songs that I just mix it up between. Never ended up playing "Achilles Last Stand" (from the album 'Presence') until a week ago or so.
Song is fraking brilliant!
And... why the apparent lack of love? It's not on a single live album they have released.

It's seriously become one of my favorite songs. But seems to be a song that just doesn't get any play among the other LZ classics.

ATOT... feel the love for Achilles?

sigh...oh how did you have all these albums until recently and knew Zeppelin; yet never played it?

If you understand 'LZ' you know why these songs aren't the most popular.

I own a bought new hardcover 1st print 'HAMMER OF THE GODS' and a paperback.

It's more of a musician's album than a listener's album. Yes, Stand is amazingly arranged, but it's long and a casual listen might get bored. If you listen to the lyrics, they're actually very profound as well (Plant actually sang that song while in a wheelchair!).

I love Tea for One. The Spanish riff on there is so sad and emotional...I love music that is able to do that.

I never really liked this song until a few years ago when I listened to it on a whim again...now its one of my favorites. The rain song was always the same way for me...never liked it till recently

Looking more into it, now I'm surprised it was used extremely often in live performances, yet never found its way onto a live album? Well, then again, it is on the Live DVD, the one I do not own. 🙁

It's got probably my favorite mixture of greatness from all the band, from the Bonham's drumming, to Jones' epic bassline, to the crazy awesome solo by Page.

But yes, I feel very ashamed I'm so late to discovering this song. Presence seems to be the album I've rarely touched.

Do not look here...seriously

btw; Bonham's drums KICK ASS in this song

Great tune, I really really like that one. Might be in my top 5 Zep tunes.

I really like that entire album.

'Tea For One' is one of the most amazing LZ songs ever made though Page described it as the only time LZ ever repeated itself. It's a dead ringer for a sequel tune to 'Since I've Been Loving You' which is definitely without a doubt my favorite LZ song ever made and really the song that shook my world completely when I was very young and made me want to make music.

it probably isn't on a live album because they didn't have a live album from the period in which the song existed. I think the band was only around for a few months afterwards

Fritzo, check out Joe Bonamassa's cover of 'Tea For One'

It's really really hard to pick which one is better.. I think LZ still wins but holy shit that cover is the closest I've ever heard to anyone outdoing LZ.

The album that comes from is actually all badass.. but that one in particular, he is channeling something inhuman.

One of my favorite Zep tunes. Classic Zep in every regard. These days though, I think No Quarter is my favorite song; I've mellowed out considerably in my old age, although I still listen through every Zep album regularly.
