And the anti-war people like to claim that Iraq doesn't harbor terrorists...
The Palestinian terrorist who masterminded the 1985 hijacking of the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro has been arrested around Baghdad, U.S. sources told CNN. Abu Abbas was arrested about 50 miles west of Baghdad afer being turned away from the Syrian border, a Palestinian source told CNN.
I wonder if the Syrians also dropped a dime on him to try to get into the good graces of the US after the recent fiascos in diplomacy.Originally posted by: seawolf21

I guess Syria isn't letting Iraqis in after all. Time for the Administration to come up with a new excuse.

The US better not catch all the terrorists in Iraq or else they won't have no1 to catch when they march towards Demascus.

I remember when Abbas et. al. went about their dirty deeds. His capture after all these years, sans Italian "assistance", is long overdue.Originally posted by: Marshallj

Nice try Jackass! We have Satellite pics of these scumbags going too and from Syria before, during, and after this operation. Just now we're begining to find the things we knew were hidden there, including human pond-scum like this piece of garbage. I hope you never suffer the pain of a relative being killed because of an extremists ideals, and their feelings that people not associated with their cause are nothing more than collateral damage. Lets not forget the American this Asswipe and his buddies killed, was a wheel chair bound old man who was tossed overboard from a four story ship. Syria has been harboring amoebas like this as long as Iraq, and now that the pressures on, we'll see just how much backbone they have when or if we decide to play in their backyard next.

Two quotes from this article:
"The Palestinian-Israeli interim agreement signed on September 28, 1995 stated that members of the Palestine Liberation Organization must not be detained or tried for matters they committed before the Oslo peace accord of September 13, 1993," he said.
Abbas masterminded the 1985 hijacking of the Achille Lauro cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

Interesting, do they actually have a point?

Even Israel allowed him in and out of Gaza a few years ago as it accepted that he had given up violence and was supporting the Oslo peace process.

The hijacking was ended in exchange for his safe passage in Egypt. Then when his plane took off from Egypt, it was intercepted by US Navy planes and forced to land in Italy. Then the Italian leader at the time ordered him released. Then Italy sentences him to 4 consecutive life terms in absentia. Very weird. By the way, the U.S. and Italy were witnesses to that treaty but were not signers. So I would guess we are not really obligated to follow it. In any case, the guy should never be free again. And I'm guessing we could find quite a few times that the Palestinians violated the treaty if we looked.
