Acer Timeline or MSI X600?

I've decided that I want either one of these and just wanted to get some opinions on Anandtech. It is primarily a secondary computer and for light multimedia and productivity such as school assignments.

Lets say both are similarly configured and each costs 799 on newegg. Which one would you pick up?

If there is another option you prefer over these two, please feel free to state your opinion!

MSI X600

Acer Timeline

Neither one. No specs were cited. The Acer link did not even focus on a particular model in the Timeline series. Unless I see an on-board eSATA port, the laptop will not be a finalist for me.

I would prefer the Timeline out of the two for the following reasons:

More sizes available (11.8", 13.3", 14", 15.6").

Longer runtime.

I've heard of crappy keyboards on the MSI (lacking support so it bounces as you type).

Low pricing starting at $450 (11.8" 2GB RAM).

Better high end (Core 2 Duo, Intel SSD).

Of course Asus is coming out with their version claiming 12 hour battery life. :Q

Very True, would you mind linking what Asus offering you were talking about?

Well what size do you want? And what is your budget? There may be a better option from Dell or HP. I would avoid the MSI though, they really do have poor build quality and don't last long.

Just got the timeline 3810T with the X25 ssd and su9400 dual core. It is a very slick little machine, very quick running win 7, boots in about 12 seconds. Build quality is excellent reminds me of Sony sz/tz series. With bing cashback through tigerdirect, it will cost $680, amazing
