Acer Predator 3440*1440/75Hz/IPS/Freesync

Acer Predator XR341CK TFTCentral has a review up. No pricing though. 🙁

30Hz-75Hz Freesync support w/overdrive working 34" curved screen. Checks most of the boxes.

very low input lag.

This is the most impressive overshoot (or lack there of) measurement I've ever seen considering it's a 4ms IPS and this is OD on extreme.

I think there's only 1 setting for overdrive with freesync, it looks the same as OD normal. And OD extreme behaves awfully on a non freesync system.

The monitors are getting closer to what I want! 4k, IPS, low ms, 100+ hz. Not sure how I feel about curved screens, or 34 inch screens for that matter. I've been using a 27" IPS for a almost 6 years now (1440p) and my next build will have a significant monitor upgrade, hopefully.

I have a 27" 1440 IPS and the Dell U3415W (same panel as the Acer) right next to one another. The Dell/Acer is the same height as the 27" 1440p. Think of the Acer/Dell/LG 34" 3440s as a 27" 1440 just 50% wider.

I can't decide if I want to sell my 34UM95 for this. If you're already hitting 60 Hz in most games (thus making FreeSync/GSync less of a factor) would the jump to 75 Hz be worth it?

This monitor caught my attention but 75Hz is still too slow. Blurfest...

As for the GSync version hitting 100Hz, I doubt that'll happen due to bandwidth constraints which is sad as the panel could easily handle 120+ Hz with its signal and response times.

There is talk the GSync version may hit 100 Hz:

http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitors/acer-x34-xr341cka-has-a-g-sync-range-of-23-100hz/

If so, I'm definitely in then.

conflicts what Acer Service team posted: (same source for the rumoured 100hz)

Acer service team can you or someone with knowledge of the " Acer xr341cka " Gsync monitor confirm if it has a refresh rate of 100hz?

A: The refresh rate for this monitor (XR341CK) and the XR341CKA is a maximum of 75 Hz. Acer Service Team answered on July 20, 2015

Yeah, it looks like 75 Hz is the baseline but with overclocking you may be able to push it higher. Even if you could get around 90 Hz, that'd be a nice increase over the 75. Guess we'll see.

Will be some kind of magic, considering using the same Panel (LG) used in 60hz displays.. so a 40Hz OC .. I am very doubtful.

I am VERY tempted to get the Acer XR341CK bmijpphz .. currently using the Dell U3415W, though not sure if freesync + 15Hz is worth an extra $300 what I paid for the Dell.
I LOVE the dual upstream USB 3.0 ports in the Dell... acts like a KVM when switching between inputs., and along with Dells CS compared to the HORROR stories of Acers customer support.. +$100-$150.. yeah I would risk it.. at +$300.. wife would have me sleeping on couch for next 2 years.

Pretty much the same dilemma here. I will also miss the built-in LUT my LG UM95 has for hardware level calibration, usually only see that in high end pro monitors from Eizo and NEC. Uniformity on my monitor is pretty good too, not sure if I want to go through the possibility of numerous exchanges to get a good one with Acer (if XB270HU quality control is any indication...)

More I think about it sticking with my current monitor is the most sane choice 😛 If I was getting an Ultrawide for the first time I'd definitely go for the Acer though.

Don't make me feel bad about my purchase just yet... it's not here yet! Ha.

My monitor was supposed to be delivered on Monday but now UPS says tomorrow. I get home from Hawaii Saturday night, so hopefully late Saturday or early Sunday I'll have some information to share with you all.

Hey you can always return it if it doesn't live up to your expectations. NewEgg is pretty good about returns (although you'll only get store credit). I almost did that with my new Asus 27" 144Hz Freesync panel but I figured out the few quirky problems it had so I'm keeping it.

Holy crap, with and overclocked G-Sync module the new Acer XR341CKA will allow 100hz. Colour me surprised. I knew the panel could handle the refresh rates but not the displayport 1.2 bandwidth, but it that can handle up to 109hz with a quality cable apparently.

Now I just need 1500+ CAD to try one of these for myself 😀

These new curved 1440's are really sweet. If I didn't have the 27" Acer I'd consider one of these. The only downside I see is the refresh rate. I think after using it a while you'd get used to the slower refresh, although 144 is pretty damn nice. Come back with a little review of your impressions once you get it.

funny that 144hz uses the same source (Amazon) that celarly says otherwise:

Q: is this a g-sync monitor version??

A: This is the FreeSync version. The X34 Predator (or XR341CKA) is the G-Sync version that will release later. Rick G. answered on July 20, 2015

so about as confirmed as Trump being sworn into the Ovaltine Office.

Look @ the dates on the replies. The 100 Hz reply came afterwards.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but if it was made in error I'm just surprised Acer hasn't corrected that yet. Maybe we should bug them on Twitter about it 🙂

I just tweeted at them, will report back if I get a response.
