Acer LCD Contrast ratio 370:1 any good?

I've had my eye on this lcd for a while but heard someone mention 500:1 being a good contrast ratio. Today I was going to order the Acer and noticed the 370:1 c/r, the 14ms looks good and the price obviously but compared to some of the other monitors on newegg the contrast ratio is lower than most.
 
Don't worry about contrast ratio too much as it's a scam. The manufacturers just pump up the maximum brightness which lets them have a high contrast ratio despite having a terrible black level. I just got a Dell LCD the other day and the thing is a joke vs. my CRT whenever lots of blacks are showing, the LCD just can't do black blacks. I have the brightness all the way down at like 10/100 and lower just to get a usable black level, so all that brightness capacity they put in to cheat the contrast ratio can't even be utilized.
 
Thats what I keep hearing is the manufacturer is usually stretching those specs for all their worth. I went ahead and bought the Samsung on Buy.com for $281.99 shipped.
