Well, if you live in Mass(?) I know a guy who runs a laptop store up there ;)

Otherwise find a smaller, locally owned laptop store; if you have one. These guys usually buy barebones from Acer and sell them. But they are few & far between in my experience

I own the Acer 800LCi and there are a few gripes about it. 1st, customer support is nearly non-existant. My brother and I each received a 800LCi as gifts. Out of the box my computer gave me trouble, his didn't. When you would press the power button the LEDs would turn on, however the mobo and screen didn't. After pressing the power button a second time, after unplugging the battery and AC power did the computer turn on. I called Acer's tech support which directed me to a local computer repair center. After three, yes three months did I finally get my computer back, all they did was replace the screen. Replacing the screen didn't fix a thing. This time I voiced my complaints and they directed me to return it to the company. They returned it after a month, replacing the mobo. And STILL the problem existed!
The warranty which last only a year ran out and today I am with a defective computer.

Now about the computer itself,
1. Bad placement of the power plug. The placed the plug right next to the CD drive which interferes with its operation.
2. Screen hinges extremely wobbly.
3. Fan inlet is placed underneath the computer, not to the side. Placing the computer on a carpet or your lap will cause less air to enter.
4. left palm rest area becomes very hot due to the HDD.

Caveat Emptor if you buy Acer. Definitely play with it first before you buy it.
