Acer laptops any good?

I've been looking at an Acer TravelMate TM4502LMi for a while now. The specs are really good and the price is just as good. I know a few people who have had Acer laptops in the past and never a problem with them, hardware-wise.

What ya think?
 
I have a TM4000LCI. I think the build quality is pretty nice. It's a much more solid build than their Aspire series. My only complaint with my TM is the CPU won't throttle, and runs at 1.4GHz constantly. I'm waiting for a reply from Acer on that. Other than that, for the lower end, these are really nice machines.

Ordered mine from Newegg.
 
all of the people who i know who have new acer pentium m laptops havent had any problems and they all run like stink. they're very nice get it i say!!
 
My friend works for a company that tests laptops for problems. He says that Acer sucks... i guess they call the Travelmate series the Troublemaker series. I dunno though, i always thought they looked nice and stuff.

Yeah they do look nice. I find that they have a quality look to them, but ya know looks can very deceiving sometimes. I would really like to be able to use one before i buy it, like how you would if you went into Best Buy, but there's nowhere here like that. :-( That's why i can only take people's word for it.

Could you ask your friend for me please which laptop he would recommend? I'm looking for one with a Pm, not necessarilly the Centrino package but i want a Pm because i would get better battery life. 512MB ram, altho i could get one with 256mb and always upgrade later. 15" display... 15.4 would definitely be better. At least a 40gb drive. DVD/CDRW... doesn't necessarilly have to be a DVD burner, but that would be a plus. And then all of the other usual stuff: wifi, usb2, firewire, parallel, vga, tv out, etc.
