Acer Aspiron 3680 Laptop Deal

What do you guys think of this deal. My girlfriends mom asked me what I thought for the price. It is $399 after rebate, can also make it $299 if sign up for microcenter creditcard. She's not looking to spend more than $600. Will be used for only a little gaming; mostly school work/ surfing. I read the ram is 1 stick not 2. Any other suggestions?

Thx in advance

I got this laptop for my girlfriend to browse the internet and I think it's an OK deal. Mine came with 1 stick of RAM so there's still 1 available slot for future upgrade.

maybe if it were $399 otd. but that has the same specs almost as the bb thanksgiving toshiba
can't nobody get those now, but still
maybe check if local walmart has any of those $399 laptops from out of layaway? the last day was december 8th

Yeah, other reports I have read on FW say that it turns out to be 1 stick of 512. Hoping for that. I guess if I get it I just need t find a cheap deal on memory for her. You guys think it would be worth waiting for another deal like the BB one . I didn't see anything at walmart.

Just be aware that you may not get it in time for Christmas. I orded one on 12/7 and it still hasn't shipped even though it says on the webpage it ships in 1-3 days. I called them and the rep said they are running about a week behind shipping things out. Accoring to the FW thread they are sending backorder notices for new orders now.

this laptop cannot be used for gaming with that video card.... or atleast it wont run any games playable without being 640x480 with everything to minimum AFAIK

I'm still waiting for an AMD Turion X2 in a Dell Inspiron or Lattitude for under $500. Maybe in 2007 hopefully there will be deals once Vista makes it's huge roll out.

intel 950 graphics are as fast as a geforce2. which means it will play farcry or anything older than that.

oh and it will play World of Warcraft.
