4 SATA ports :D

FYI-Dell has a deal right now for a system with a 19" LCD for $349, but it's a Celeron with 256MB RAM, 80GB, CD-ROM. I configured it with 512, 160, and a burner and it came out to $699.

S939 Sempron > Celeron of any flavor. The only advantage this Dell package has is 19" LCD and that's it.

You could huh? You could build a faster gaming system at those specs with a monitor for $289? I'd like to see that.

Ya, and with legal OS??

yeah...is it possible with a legal OS :p ?

Looking at the spec, it's possible to upgrade to a Athlon 64x2 processor. Do you know which one exactly would work? I just bought this for my brother who's in high school. Just looking at what kind of upgrade option is out there. Thanks!

I meant how did the get those links, I searched CC's web site and dont see those specials. Just wondering how they got them and if there might be more.

Edit: If you go to the website and pull up the weekly ad there are links to the specials, but you have to view the interactive ad. (one with pictures of the flyer)

Afraid of the Circuit City salesmen, are we? :D I guess you'd have to ask mdcrab, I can't say that I know him personally.

I bought one the other day and the quality is pretty high. They're almost right up there with Compaqs and HPs. Like most Compaqs and HPs nowadays, it does not come with any CDs/DVDs. It has a recovery partition and gives you the option to burn your own restore discs if you should so choose.

It has 4 memory slots, 3 pci slots, 1 x16 PCI-Express slot, a seagate Barracuda 7200 HDD, and has a 300W PS. It's also a socket 939, running on an nForce 410/430 -based motherboard with integraded sound and geforce 6100 integrated video. It's a perfect platform to start with and seems to have great potential for upgrading.

Got one for my wife to replace an aging Duron 1.3GHz system - the Acer is a great little system. Lots of room for future upgrades (S939 CPU, PCI-e video card, more RAM) if I needed it.

Another positive thing I must say, it doesn't come with hardly ANY bloatware! Only had to uninstall Norton & a couple of Acer media control panels & I was good to go.

Came out to $365 (including tax) w/the 17"LCD bundle - ended up selling the LCD to a co-worker for $140 making the computer roughly $225. No way I could build a legit system for that price.

People on other deals boards are reporting having success substituting the Viewsonic 19" LCDs/widescreen LCDs instead of the Acer 17" (both Viewsonics come with rebates), and some are even successful in using a $40 off $199 coupon found in some mover's guides from the USPS.

Does anyone know if they lock the overclocking options in the bios like Dell and Compaq does?

I doubt that, but even if they do, you can get a decent cheapo S939 motherboard for about $40.00

Acer PCs in China do not lock anything. They come with ECS mobos though....which aren't exactly the greatest things for OCing.

I worded that wrong. I meant the combo rings up as $150 + the price of any lcd. So you can choose any lcd instead of the acer.

His point is that in order to calculate the combo deal price, the cashier will ring up the lcd at full price and the computer at $150. The LCD in your example is $189. Computer + lcd = $150 + $189. If you got a $300 LCD, then the total would be $150 + 300 = $450.

It was in reference to people replacing the Acer LCD with another one.

I think this is out of stock now because the "add to cart" icon is no longer there.
There is just a "shop by phone" icon there now. O.O
