seems like a pretty good deal, no?

I've been looking for:
1) 15.4" screen
2) Pentium M/Core/Turion
3) Discreet graphics

Dell doesn't offer that at all. HP does, but you'll pay dearly for it. Seems like most manufacturers are doing integrated graphics all the way up to about the $1200 price point right now. Seeing lots of pimped out Core Duo, 1gb RAM systems with a GMA900, which makes no sense.

I'd love to get those 3 things for ~$1000, but this Acer seems like it for now. Any other ideas?

Makes a lot of sense to me, just ordered my Dell E1505, its Core Duo 945 chipset has the GMA950, woopie!!! I was looking for the CPU punch and the ability to run 2GB RAM. Two of my three major programs are dual CPU aware.

Can you wait 2-months??? According to the sages that follow Dell, the GF 7800 will migrate to the E1505 lappy in 1-2 months. At least that was the case with the 6000. Since the GeForce 7800 is $300 in the E1705, I don't think you'll be able to break the $1K price point for another 6-months, but it will happen. My E1505 was $760 AR, of course we're talking GMA950.

Let the hunt continue!!!
