I hope this is not re-post.

512 Ram with $200 rebates.
XGA screen, kind of large, but not so thick.

I had chance to check it yesterday. Good for desk.
But I would not try to be super-mobile with it.

the picture on the page makes it look like a widescreen lappy. Click on the "enlarge" to see actual picture that is not squished.

I am very happy with my Acer that I got with the exact same specs except mine came with a DVD burner for 499AR + tax + $20 to upgrade the memory from 256 to 512 (newegg). The only disapointing thing is the battery life, but everything else is great!

for some reason, the title came across to me as "512MB Acer Notebook RAM for $550 after rebate"...

I heard the battery life is less than an hr on notebook forums, any truth to that?

I formatted to another license of Windows XP Professional I had and turned down the screen brightness and my battery will last me 1:30-1:40 when I'm writing code or doing text based work. If I'm watching a DVD or listening to music, the battery life hovers around 35-40 minutes. But for $550, what can you expect? Over on another deal forum they found a higher capacity battery, but I haven't really researched to see if anyone has had any success with it. I'm sure in the future Acer will release an 8-cell battery for these things, considering how a lot of different retailers are carrying them. It would be dumb not to...

What socket it is from my information semprons are socket754, if it is correct it is a good chance to upgrade this baby to AMD64 bit socket 754 processors. In AMD's 2006 Road map they have 4000+ socket 754 mobile processor which will be good upgrade.

It's socket 754. Not sure how difficult it would be to upgrade the processor in it. I'm not gonna pop that baby open until my warranty is up.

I have an Acer Aspire and I hate the keyboard. I replaced my IBM. I make many more mistakes and the feel of the keyboard is definitely cheapy. I suggest that you try out keyboards on several laptops before you buy. I wish I spent the extra and bought a system with a keyboard with IBM quality.

Any idea on the battery on this 3003LCi? I know the 3002s come with a really crappy 4-cell Lion battery, I have heard you might get 45 mins from the 4 cell. 6-8-12 on this one?

I doubt 45 minutes.
Minimum 1h45m at least first 3 months.

WRONG.

45min is TRUE. I owned the 3002s laptop for about 1 week untill I got rid of the POS. 45min battery life while watching a DVD. 1 hour 5mins surfing the web. You cant even get 1 hour and 45mins from it if you let it sit there powered-on doing absolutly nothing! I tried it! and yes I had power management ON.

Is this one of the 64bit semprons? I have a socket 939 64 bit Sempron in my Compaq r4000 with the same clock speed as this one. I tested it with a 64bit Linux distro and it worked fine. Why doesn't this say that it is an x86-64 processor?
